Who are we?
Bicycle Route Planner Germany
A number of federal states operate individual bicycle route planners on the internet. These systems work with state-specific data and different approaches.
Several federal states have joined together under “Bicycle Route Planner Germany” to form a joint project to offer cross-border and large-scale planning of cycling routes.
The aim is to provide routing on well-signposted and quality-designated “premium routes” of the states for (multi-day) cycling tours – bundled in a central application.

Plan your cycling trip on well-developed routes — seamlessly across state borders. The Bicycle Route Planner Germany brings together the state-specific route planners in a single application, ensuring uninterrupted planning from the North Sea to the Alps.
In federal states without their own route planner, the central system calculates a route along approved paths. These may deviate from the quality standards of the designated themed routes.

How does it work?
Nationwide Route Query
Step 1
Enter Start & Destination
Address-specific for all of Germany. The central system distributes the request to the responsible regional systems.
Step 2
Calculate Partial Routes
Each regional system calculates its section on themed routes. Gaps are filled with alternative routing.
Step 3
Adjust and Start Route
Overview map, detail view per regional system. Export and free adjustment of the partial route.
What is behind it?
Routing Options
Prefer D-Routes
The route is preferably guided along the official D-Routes of the Cycle Network Germany – the 14 national long-distance cycling routes (D1 - D13 + RDE), connecting all regions of Germany. The D-Routes layer is automatically displayed on the map when this option is activated.
Avoid Inclines
The route is calculated to avoid steep ascents as much as possible – ideal for relaxed cyclists or less experienced riders.
